Service and Maintenance - Fire and Safety CentreFire and Safety Centre can now offer service and maintenance of fire extinguishers, fire alarm and detection systems, emergency lighting systems and wet and dry riser maintenance through its service partner Fire Safety Services (UK) Limited a BAFE registered company with national coverage. Please call 01724 281044/277479 to arrange a quotation. It is essential to properly maintain fire extinguishers and fire safety systems. British Standard Code of Practice BS 5306 Part 3 recommends that your fire extinguishers are serviced by a competent person at least annually to ensure that they will function in an emergency. BS5306 contains recommended service schedules for the different types of extinguishers. Employers also have a legal responsibility under the RRO, to ensure that extinguishers within the work place are serviced to ensure they are in an efficient state, in efficient working order and in good repair. To ensure compliance with this legislation a responsible person within your organisation should also conduct a visual inspection on a regular basis to ensure the extinguisher has not been damaged or accidentally discharged. If your organisation employs 5 people or more you must also hold a physical record of all Service, Maintenance and Inspections ideally in a Fire Log Book.
