Foam Fire ExtinguishersAFFF fire extinguishers and foam extinguishers are two names for the same thing – but be careful, because AFFF extinguishers contain a proportion of water, so they are not recommended for fires where live electricity is involved. A foam extinguisher can be used to fight Class A fires involving wood, paper, textiles, coal or similar materials, as well as Class B flammable liquid fires. That makes them more versatile than water extinguishers, and a lighter and smaller alternative for an equivalent fire risk. If you’re unsure about where it’s safe to deploy AFFF extinguishers, visit our advice page on foam fire extinguishers or call us on 01724 281044. Visit our guide to help you decide on what fire extinguisher is best for your application.
You can also refine your search using the filters below: A foam fire extinguisher discharges a premixed foam solution under pressure that forms a blanket of foam on the surface of a burning liquid creating a chemical barrier between the fire vapours and the air oxygen necessary to support combustion thereby smothering the fire. Foam fire extinguisher are colour coded with a cream label. Using a foam fire extinguisher on Class B liquid fires (petrol, oils etc.).
