Fire extinguishers that carry a Class F fire rating are specifically designed to combat cooking oil and fat fires and are an essential safeguard in kitchens, canteens, food processing plants and retail food outlets. Wet chemical extinguishers also carry a Class A rating for combustible solids. The new Synergy ABF extinguisher gives added protection against petroleum and hydrocarbon fires.

Wet chemical fire extinguishers employ a pressurised solution of alkali salts in water and are used for Class F fires. Its principal application is in kitchens, canteens and food processing areas. Wet Chemical extinguishers can be used on Class A fires involving solid combustibles. The Synergy ABF Foam extinguisher is also effective on burning petroleum and hydrocarbons giving a highly versatile solution.

Using a wet chemical fire extinguisher:

1. Turn off the source of heat if safe to do so.
2. Pull out the retaining pin (this will break the plastic "pull tight" security seal) and squeeze the grip to discharge the extinguisher. 
3. Hold the lance at arm's length, well above the fire with its nozzle at least 1 Metre away from the fire.
4. Holding the lance still, discharge so that the spraying wet chemical falls gently onto the surface of the fire.
5. Even if the fire appears to go out quickly, it is advisable to discharge the entire contents of the extinguisher.
