Adopt a polar bear
December 29, 2008barriehol
WWF is currently running a campaign to help protect an endangered species called “adopt a polar bear”. You can adopt one of these beautiful animals from as little as £3 a month and receive an official adoption pack with news, information and pictures from WWF.
The polar bears put up for adoption are a group of male and female bears aged between 5 and 12 years old. They live in the Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic, which belongs to Norway. Svalbard is made up of three large islands and numerous smaller islands and approximately 60% of the archipelago is covered in glaciers.
Research indicates that over a quarter of the worlds polar bear populations are presently in decline. Scientists believe the drop in populations is linked to the decline of sea ice in and around the Arctic Circle, as a consequence of climate change. Sea ice is the polar bears’ primary habitat and WWF is studying the impact of climate change on the polar bears survival. Your charitable gifts will help fund this research and help stem the decline in population.
If adoption is not your thing you can make a donation. £10 could pay to take a blood sample. £30 could pay for three oil-spill clean up kits for an Arctic volunteer.
What better way to give a Charitable Gift this Christmas or frankly at anytime. More information can be found at the following link
