Our First Responder Spill Training Course will train delegates to an improved level of education on topics such as exposure to emergency spills, knowledge on the physical dangers of spills and creating plans for escaping. Spill containment strategies are also covered in depth together with the moral and legal responsibilities in ensuring that spills don’t enter the environment through waterways.

  • A brief (not in-depth) synopsis will be presented to highlight both Individual and Corporate pollution responsibilities and penalties within the following legislation (or Scottish/NI equivalents):
  • The Water Resources Act 1991
  • The Water Industry Act 1991
  • The Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) (England) Regulations 2001
  • The Groundwater (England & Wales) Regulations 2009
  • The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
  • The Environment Damage (Prevention & Remediation) Regulations 2009
  • The Environment Agency and their role.
  1. Practical Spill Simulation

This practical can be customised to suit but will always include:

  • An interactive deployment of Spill Control Products as a demonstration/simulation.
  • A discussion to reinforce and highlight personal safety, initial response and safe handling of used Absorbent Product.
  • Show techniques for reducing the spread or flow of a spill whilst implementing a practical solution to the prevention of the escape of the liquid into a typical drain inlet.
  • Location and inspection of Site Spill Response Equipment and review of deployment.

  • Overhead or PC Projection Equipment, Screen, Flipchart & Pens, DVD System
  • Training area with space to effectively carry out a dry demonstration for 12 attendees
  • A range of Site Absorbents relevant to attendees
