What is Commissioning?
The procedure for commissioning is where several tests will be carried out on the extinguisher by a competent person in accordance with the British Standard 5306-3 2017 to ensure that it has not been damaged and that the extinguisher is fit for purpose. This includes several checks, some of which are listed below:
- Attach the discharge nozzle (if not already attached)
- Check the tamper device is intact
- Check the pressure gauge is in the green (if fitted)
- Check for corrosion or damage along with numerous other checks
Upon satisfactory results a service label will be attached to the extinguisher and a certificate will be issued for your insurance purposes.
